Gas MSN & National Database? Stuck
Hi,
Hoping someone in the know can help us, we are renting a property & moving supplier from Spark Energy/EON to First Utility, however we've been told our gas (specifically the MSN number) isn't on the national database and can't be moved until is.
We called Spark (who letting agents told us supplied were with), turn out they never took over from EON for same issue.
EON say they can't add it to a database & didn't know what I was talking about (& checked with their manager), First Utility say they can't do it (& took them 3 months to tell us why they couldn't switch it), letting agents say they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Good morning woolgar.c
I'm sure I can help, but I'm so sorry that we didn't get this sorted out when you gave us a ring
It sounds to me, like you have an IGT for the gas supply, this means your gas is coming through and independent gas transporter and not via national grid, as most do.
Before you can change supplier it does need to be registered on a database but it may be on a different one for IGT properties.
It's something us, as your current supplier we need to do for you.
I'm more than happy to help, although I can't update the database, I'll be able to get you contact with the people that can.
Let me know.

Hi Helena,
Yes please, if you could provide details of who to contact & what we need to do that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First contact your local distributor. They will tell you if the meter is registered and who currently (if anyone) supplies the Gas.
http://www2.nationalgrid.com/UK/Our-company/Gas/Gas-Distribution-Network/
Click on the distributor who manages your area. They will have the information you need.
- It could turn out that you were never actually with the correct supplier to begin with.
- It could be that the meter has not been properly registered. Was it recently exchanged/swapped?
- Either way, the distributor will tell you
You may want to take note of the MPRN number on the meter. It is the reference for the meter. The distributor will probably ask for it.0 -
Thanks!
I used that site, called SGN & found out our provider & that we are on an IGT database but the MSN is listed to the wrong address/ hasn't been updated since the house was built.
Re-contacted EON who have put in a request for the update.
Thanks for the help0
