Hotel room Transfer

Can anyone help me, I booked a room in Cardiff at Sleeperz in July to watch a concert. I no longer require the room but unfortunately I did a pre-pay non refundable/non-transferable booking, so the hotel won't let me cancel the booking. They have said I could transfer it to another name but I don't know anyone that wants the room. I did try to sell it on roomertravel which I thought I could do, but the hotel have now contacted me to advise they have had several telephone calls saying they are friends or relatives of mine and want to change the booking which frankly I found very concerning and is not what I expected. Can anyone advise if the have ever used this site or have any idea how I can get a refund/transfer the room on a reliable website. The hotel advised me that if the person I sold room to caused damage to the room I would be liable for. When I look on the website the hotel is fully booked for those dates, I wasn't sure I had any rights??

that is normally the case, your card will be logged for the room so I would not want to allow anyone other than someone I knew and trusted use the room
How much would you lose out on for the room cost?

Well dont let anyone else use the room.
Write the cost off and use it as an experience.
