LOKA Energy
Has anyone ever had dealings with this company? We rent a 1 bed flat and LOKA have a standard (£30) monthly fee for what they state is the maintenance of the boiler and then charge for usage after that. Would I be correct in assuming the standard charge should be covered by the property owner and as the tenants we would pay for the gas bill.
Out average monthly gas costs are £50. This seems ridiculous for a 1 bed flat, especially that we never put the heating on, only using the gas to heat the water for showers and washing dishes.
Any insight on this would be helpful.
To note, we pay Scottish Power separately, £25 per month for electricity.
Thank you

Hi welcome to the forum. Loka seems to be a district heating scheme. Such schemes have attracted a lot of angry comment on these forums as they are largely unregulated.
As for who pays for what, I suggest that you need to read your tenancy agreement as I would expect this to be covered. The standing charge in district heating schemes normally covers such things as the ongoing infrastructure maintenance/replacement costs. Yes, there is an argument that the landlord should pay; that said, your monthly rental may well be higher as a result. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
