Lawn... when to call it quits?

Our lawn wasn't too healthy (though doesn't sound as bad as yours!!) - so since May we have been using Green Thumb.
The difference has been great - and when they came out they said they had seen lawns in a much much worse state.
Rather than buying lots of different products it might be worth looking at somebody like them.

With not like using weedkillers it's my experience that by feeding my lawns each spring and again mid summer I find that it doing so they stays fairly free of weeds. Any that germinate are easy enough to did out with an old kitcken knife.0

My lawn was more clover than grass this time last year and I imagined if I killed off the clover then my lawn would look bare, not so.... I used Weed and Feed on it in October last year and then again in May and its been almost completely weed free all year , with the cool damp Summer we have had its honestly the nicest its ever looked at the end of Summer I think I dug up two dandelions all year which is a miracle for me..
So I am going to give it another go in the next week or so same as last year and then keep cutting as long as its possible ..... :T
Or maybe its just cos my grandchildren have suddenly grown out of playing football, cricket, rounders, catch and hide and seek on my garden  ....and the poor lawn is sooooooooooo grateful :rotfl:
EDIT: I forgot to add I would never ever dig it up , too much hard work involved and I think unless its very very uneven a lawn can usually be rescued with a bit of TLC...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Yeeeeees..... just because I am now a home-owner, it doesn't mean I'm quite ready to pay someone to fix something as non-essential as a lawn!My TV is broken!

Regard lawn maintenance as good healthy exercise :j and think of the savings in gym fees! - Hysterically: :rotfl:0 -
When my Father died, about 70% of the front garden was for vegetables. I didn't have time to look after it and also neglected it for a few months.
Eventually it was scythe-sickle-mower, then just mowed as necessary. It's now almost all grass.
In total, I mow about 250sq.yd. with a reclaimed and repaired push-mower. Takes about 35 min. - if it were flat (not bumpy) and no obstructions, it'd take 20min.
So just keep mowing, as per the excellent regime above, and most of the weeds give up.

How much do they charge-are you involved with them?:D
We pay £13.50 per quarter for both front and back - however our lawns are quite small.
I think that price is upto 100m2 (not 100% though on the m2).
You can have as many treatments as you like and there is no contract, so you can cancel when you like too.
And no I am not involved with them.....just a satisfied customer :T0 -

All the 'products' we were paying for to quick fix our lawn were costing probably more than what the Green Thumb cost, however the Green Thumb treatment actually made a difference!0 -
