Florida Car Rental Insurance

Hello, we are travelling to Florida in June and declined the car insurance for the holiday company as it was £300 for the fortnight, can anyone recommend places to provide cover, cheaper but reliable please?

Thanks for your help

Irrespective of where you get cover make sure you have more than one credit card with you on holiday as the hire company usually max out your available credit by reserving a large sum when you don't take their insurance.

Have you got a so called 'free' hire car through either virgin, Thompson holidays etc. If you have and have declined insurance you will need to buy a CDW/SLI policy from a third party to cover damage to the hire car and extend third party liability. As Quentin said you will get a big deposit held on your credit card. Google money maxim and that offers a good comparison of policies.

You may find it more cost beneficial to ditch the 'free' car and look at brokers such as auto Europe or Alamo.co.uk where the booking will normally cover the CDW with 0 excess (for USA bookings) and SLI extended insurance.

    Cheers

  • Agreed the free car is not always cheapest.

    Also try Rentalcars.com and carhire3000.

Make sure you check the same and all the above advised cover elements.

Then bite fuel policy - full to full or free tank of gas.

Depending where you will drive - you may seen an extra for toll roads sold at the rental desk. Most take it.
I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.
