I'm going to contact compare the market separately as I notice when I have done quotes this year that they still don't ask the question.

Agreed, I've just checked. It's an anomaly of their site that they treat that question as irrelevant to Contents only cover when most insurers will still require it to be answered. I did notice that on the summary screen before I clicked "get my quotes" it showed the subsidence related questions as having been answered "no" but that may be because I'd previously done a Buildings and Contents quote and they still had my answers stored. Presumably when you've only ever done Contents only quotes it wouldn't show this on the summary screen?

What I would say is that most insurers will still require the answer to their subsidence related question(s) and will have had to default it to "no" in order to return a quote. In clicking through and buying the policy you would, with most insurers, ending up confirming that there is no history of subsidence. Always check closely what you are confirming to the insurer but it's a bad omission on CTM's part not to ask the questions for Contents only quotes.

just used the moneysaving site, got a quote, filled it all in including declaring i'll be absent over 60 days while on holiday...then you get to the end before paying and you have to confirm it will NOT be empty more than 60 days .....so am now rejected.. Clever stuff...do I want to phone them...? not really, will try elsewhere Admiral, thank you..

I recommend NatWest which charges us £55 pa for contents cover of £50,000 max + individual accidental damages + items lost/stolen/etc outside the home. Landlord is responsible for all buildings and related large insurance cover + even small cover relating to water spillage etc from an adjoining flat etc.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.
