    That looks 10mm wide rather than 10cm, but still a nasty crack.

    If the independent report states the worktops reponsible, then the fitter/Ikea need to sort it out.

    You will need to look at the small print in the contract. Sometimes the fitters work for themselves and get the work though Ikea, in which case it would be the fitter and his own insurance you need to pursue.

  • I would be grateful if anyone has any advice as to wheather we could claim compensation.
    If you mean monies in addition to them making good the damage they have wrought, then the answer is clearly no. They certainly need to effect full repairs though and that will be at no cost to yourself.
