Can someone please tell me how to allow my firewall to connect with an internet time server. According to this: http://tf.nist.gov/service/firewall.htm my firewall is the problem because I get an error message. I am using McAfee. The sort of help I am looking for is “open this, click that tab, click this tab etc.” I have no idea how to open ports!

Do you use a router?
Tell me what you are trying to do, I am not sure if you are just trying to access the web page or what ever.
Set clock to update time using a time server?

Hi I wanted to set the computer's clock but I have done it now by turning off the firewall for about 30 seconds while I connected to the server then turning it back on. I would like it to be able to update itself if that is easy. I have a router a Thompson Speedtouch 576.0

Try puting this IP in the Sever box and test if it works with firewall/router enabled.
212.23.8.6
Dont think I had to set up any rules.
Just for information the IP is the Zen internet time server.0 -
And if you really want to get technical with the time clock and make it update more often:
Adjust Internet Time Synchronization
Adjust Interval
The time interval of the update is set at 7 days. This can be changed in the registry:- Start the Registry Editor AND BACK IT UP FIRST
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ W32Time \ TimeProviders \ NtpClient \
- Double-click the SpecialPollInterval value, and change the Base of the Value data to Decimal
- Now change the Value data to the time interval you desire, noting that the time is given in seconds (so for 1 day the value would be 86400, while the default (7 days) is 604800
- Close the registry editor
