Gladstones letter to old address

Options
Hi

Apologies if this scenario has come up before, I have read through the threads but struggling to find relevant advise. If there is existing threads relating to my problem please feel free to divert me.

I have today received a letter from Gladstones on behalf of Debt Recovery Plus who work on behalf of Smart Parking Ltd. They are demanding payment of £320 for an unpaid parking charge within the next 14 days. They state that their client may instruct them to take legal action against me if not paid.

However the letter was sent to my parents address along with all previous correspondence from DRP and Smart Parking Ltd.

I changed my address details with the DVLA 18 months ago, I assume this must be around the time of the charge however it doesn't state so in the letter received.

I can ill afford to pay this fee and would like to know what my next steps should be, which company should I contact and should I provide my new address details to them?

I would appreciate any help or advice.

Thank you.

    You won't be paying it.
Where was the original ticket picked up, and why?
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • The ticket was for overstaying in a retail car park on an evening in Aug 2015 (ANPR). However I do not have the original charge notice as this would have gone to my parent's address and lost during my move.

That seems a lot for one ticket. Ask them for a breakdown, and then complain to the SRA, and in writing to your local trading Standards Department.

Ppcs have 6 years to issue legal proceedings

If you are confident that your parents can be trusted to pass on all post received then no need to tell them your new address

For now read up the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum to learn about the game you are now involved in.

You are in the ignore debt collectors stage now.

If you do get any court correspondence come back for current advice on how to deal with the defence

also read all the other similar threads today , it seems DRP have posted loads of these out using old headed notepaper templates

the sc@m has been easy to spot for several years , but the old glads address is a dead giveaway

No-one here pays Smart Parking or DRPlus, but it would be easier to keep up here, if newbies would read what is already here each week, the forum is too busy for the same threads again and again:

That's just two of several from today. Here's one from last month that any newbie could have found by searching the forum:

Sit tight. Smart Parking have never sued anyone and can't hold a registered keeper liable, so NEVER say who was driving.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
