Default from BT

I've just received a letter from moorcroft advising me I owe £80 to a BT account that I closed in November. I previously disputed their claim that I was terminating early as they messed up my order so much the delay on my service going live was theirs, something which they acknowledged at the time. I was also advised by Sky (whom I was moving to) that they would cover up to £150 fees for moving my supply to them. Called BT and they have said that I am liable for an early termination fee (£22) and the hire of their equipment (£65) which I returned to them.
Is there anything I can do about this? I received 2 letters from BT one advising the payment for leaving, which I was told sky would cover and another demanding payment, which is when I contacted them regarding why I was being charged.
Is there anything I can do? If I pay the default within 30 days is it removed? I've literally just cleared all my debt and this wasn't showing anywhere with a CRA (still isn't) so I would have got on to it again.

Hi.
If sky said they would cover the fee, it makes sense to complain to them, and chase that up.
As far as I am aware, BT do not report to the CRA's, so this should not show on your credit file.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Not a hundred percent certain but I think they may shaft their customers at Equifax.
Again, not 100%, but I believe Sky don't report at all.0 -
BT report your account to Equifax. The default will be registerd with Equifax but you may not see it for another few weeks.
But it will be placed on Equifax, it may be best to chase this up with sky if they promised to clear charges.
Failing that, you could complain to BT and see if you can come to an agreement to get the default removed !0 -
Wee update. Sky admitted a mistake had been made, BT pulled the debt back as I am able to prove Sky made the mistake and should have paid it, sky are reimbursing me as agreed, since I paid BT. Moorcroft debt recovery are extremely unhappy with me! Can see why people ignore debt collectors when they get met with hostility straight away.
I used to work for Wescot and got all the 'control the call' "Demand payment, or their kids will go to care" training, but I was crap at that job because I didn't act like a swine asking people to 'justify' falling behind in their payments and then telling them (and I quote the man I just spoke to) "the only mistake made, has been made by you for taking out a debt you can't pay." Calm yourself it was a BT bill for a months early termination fee. Wee drama Queen!0
