Halifax ultimate reward account

Hi all,

Has anybody recently converted the Halifax ultimate reward account (with fee £15/£12), to Halifax current account (without monthly fee)? can you tell me the process to do so? I am asking for first hand experience please

    Not first hand, but...
    If your account can't be changed online, or if it's not eligible for upgrade, you can call us on 0345 720 3040 or contact your local branch for advice.
    That's what I see in online banking for my Reward account.
    And online I see only option for upgrading, not downgrading.

    I know with Lloyds Bank (and I'd imagine the Halifax are the same) to downgrade your packaged current account you'd have to either phone up or visit your nearest branch.
    It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • Yes, I phoned up the Halifax and said the benefits I was getting were not worth the money I was spending and they changed the Ultimate immediately to the Current account which pays me money rather than costs me. It was an extremely painless and easy process, the new card arrived two days later.

    When i did it, i phoned up and asked for the change as of XXX date. They were more than happy to change me from the ultimate down to the regular reward.
