Hi All,
My 10 year old Whirlphool fridge-freezer door has broken at the hinge. The plastic has completely gone. Here are some pics:
Any chance I can repair it? Fix with some glue may be?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Thanks
Vik

Do the pictures show the two doors, I.e. The bottom of the top door and the top of the lower door? If so, it looks like they share one bracket and perhaps one spindle operates inside the other?
It looks pretty terminal to me, I can't see how that top door will work if fixed with glue. The leverage force on the hinge from a door almost two feet wide is substantial. Any glued part is likely to break pretty quickly.
I would think you need to get a price for a new door and hinge assembly and weigh up whether it's worth repairing versus the cost of a new fridge-freezer.0 -
long shot, but can the doors be reversed to open the other way. (it looks like you have blanking plugs in the holes for the handles.)
May be a bit of learning curve opening from the other side, but you soon get used to it.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Seconded for hanging the doors the other way round, I remember my dad doing that years ago when the freezer door broke in a similar fashion.0

Yes, they do. It's the same bracket for both doors. Cost of new door is in the range of £100. New fridge is £200. Looks like I have to get a new fridge0 -

Thanks for this suggestion. I tried it but the door bracket does not fit the other way. It is slightly raised on one side. If I flip it, doors don't align with the frame.
This suggestion gives me some confidence that I was trying the right thing. I will check if I can get the bracket to fit the other side. Thanks again!0 -
The fixings should be interchangeable. Fridge makers don't make separate left and right handed fridges.Make £2025 in 2025
