HELP! Sick computer

  • After a day of processing large images all seems to be well!

I think the problem was caused by overheating, there was alot of dust in the vents on the back of the tower :o - I cleaned that away and there have been no problems since!

Note to self - in future don't assume the worst, it could be something much more simple!

I will look for new memory soon as I think I need to increase it to 1gb.

Thanks again for all your help, I've learned alot!!!!!

Although you can have temps up to 80 (It would then shut down) I would start looking at cooling it when it reaches 50 myself.

I have a program in my startup that shows me the temp, I dont leave it running normally but on each reboot I check the temp, that way I keep an eye on it for any possible problem.

    Hi Ruth

Glad your system seems to be more stable now. :T

So, what kind of temperatures are you getting now ? I had read that AMD's run slightly hot but it may also be worth cleaning the CPU fan cooling fins carefully ( a can of compressed air ? )

An increase to 1Gb will certainly help with any processor intensive operations.
