OH and I are both in works syndicates. I am fairly sure that we will never win but would be gutted if I left and the syndicate won just after that! Irrational, yes but I can't help it.0

That's how I view the lottery-like a bar of chocolate or a glass of wine. An indulgence -to some it is worth for the enjoyment value for others it has none. None are wrong just that we all spend our money on wants rather than needs sometimes -for me I'd rather spend £1 on a lottery ticket than £2 on a glass of wine bit for others the wine is their choice.prudencekitten wrote: »My husband buys the occasional ticket. There was a lovely story in the Irish papers last year about a man who worked on the buses who died suddenly leaving his widow to raise their teenage children. He was in a small syndicate at work and his workmates didn't have the heart to take him off the list so continued to pay in for him .....and they WON !!
His widow (who is a friend of mine) had no idea they were still paying in her husband's pound a week until she got a call from one of them -telling her to meet them at the lottery offices for the cheque presentation !
The day the story broke in the Irish papers the widow was travellin g home from work on the bus and it was the talk of the bus-the decency and generosity of the syndicate and she told me she sat on that bus fighting the urge to shout out "It's ME !!!"I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
