Hi Everyone,
Hoping someone can help. A few years ago I was silly and got a credit card. I was paying the installments back every month for about a year and a bit (or so I thought) it turned out the direct debit got cancelled and the money wasn't going out for the last 3/4 months (I genuinely had no clue and still to this day the bank doesn't know why the direct debit was cancelled as this wasn't something I authorised) I went and done some travelling for 4 months and come home to a million (over exaggeration but a good 10!) letters and one that my debt had been transferred over to Wescott... So I rang them to mortified to arrange payments as I am attempting to get a mortgage next year with my partner. They asked me some verification questions and my date of birth. The date of birth on my Halifax file is something completely different so they said they would write to them and find out what was going on. 8 weeks later of me chasing as all I want to do is get this debt paid and still nothing - 10 weeks later they write to me saying Halifax have asked if i will go into branch with 2 forms of photo ID - Something I do not have! My passport expired and I couldn't tell you where it now is and I don't have a driving licence. I don't know how they have got my date of birth wrong and I shouldn't to chase around after their mistake. Its now 3 months on and they are refusing to talk to me to arrange payment. I don't know what to do? Can they refuse my payment? I have to be the only person who is actually chasing a debt collector! Its not fair this is effecting my credit when I am making every effort to get this debt cleared. Can someone give me some advice please? Thank you and sorry for the essay!! Emma

Are you sure 2 forms of PhotoID and not 2 forms of ID of which one must be a photo? Have you phoned Halifax?Debt As Of 19/3/2021: £16,973 | Current Debt: £9,322 | 54.9% Repaid0

This is a new one. A DCA wants 2 forms of ID to make you prove to them the debt is yours? It's up to them to prove it not you.0
