PRA Group

I have recently just seen a default on my credit file from 2013 from PRA Group, i have never heard of this company, it shows that the original loan was from Lending stream for £400. I was unaware of this debt and have never received anything from Lending Stream. I disputed the default on my credit file as it is showing I owe PRA over £1100, I then started receiving letters from PRA group for this and 2 other debts for loans I have never had, they are from 2004 and 2005 and total over £10000. Are these PRA Group for real they are asking for a settlement of 10% of a 12 year old made up debt.
They have already ruined my credit file in a big way and I am worried they will give me a CCJ. How can I have this Bulls**t removed from my credit file?

Are you sure you haven't got any unpaid? Did you take joint loans with an ex? You'll both be liable even if you paid your half...Debt As Of 19/3/2021: £16,973 | Current Debt: £9,322 | 54.9% Repaid0 -
Technically the initial debts are statute barred anyway - but if you are certain they are not yours then your sole defense should be that they have the wrong person. I'm certain the lovely sourcrate will be along shortly with the correct link on what to send them to make them go away.
If you are certain this is nothing to do with you then there is a chance it's either identity fraud or someone with a similar name and PRA have in their infinite wisdom (HA!) decided your name is similar/the same/contains 3 vowels so it must be you. YOu need to get quite firm with them and beat them with a huge stick and DO NOT EVER PAY THEM ANYTHING!!!!!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Hi
If PRA keep asking you to pay you can send this letter disputing liability and threatening to complain unless evidence is supplied:
https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/sampleletters/Pages/Complaining-to-debt-collection-agencies-that-you-do-not-owe-the-debt-%28sole-name%29.aspx
Regardless of whether they can prove the debts are yours, a default should be marked on your credit file no later than 6 months after contractual payments are missed. As the debts are so old ask them to remove the defaulted accounts. If they refuse you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Hi,
You need to send the letter in the link (above) that James has provided.
Only when (if) they provide any evidence of these debts, will you know the full story.
Lending stream is a payday loan lender, any kind of fraud associated with this type of loan is usually a partner or ex partner, or other close family member with access to your bank account.
Don't just leave this unattended to, as PRA could obtain CCJ's against you by default if you ignore it.
It would then be more costly to rectify.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
