I'm stuck and hoping someone with more computer knowledge than me can assist.
I've recently purchased AVG ultimate 2017, now, my browser seems to be hijacked
Tools > internet options > internet tab is showing Google as my homepage, however, when I click on a new tab, I get Bing search engine, also showing my recent history, the page then jumps to AVG secure search engine which appears to be setting as my homepage
How do I get Google back?
I have Windows 8, with IE 11 installed.

I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

You'll need to manually reset your homepage & default search engine in IE Settings, then uninstall Secure Search from Control Panel > Programs and Features......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Also , you need to change it so that it actually opens your home page when opening a new tab, instead of the new tab page (with your history on it) as you describe.
Do that here ..0 -

When installing software you need to read exactly what changes its making.
Cannot remember which program i installed but just clicking install does what your have found. You need to click custom install and remove the search engine and fav items the program automatically changes.
Cannot think what the program was. But i always check the install settings now.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
