can someone advise me please on the above...
my son came into work and was playing on the boss's laptop and put msn on there and I cant get it off! It keeps automatically signing him in and pops up when someone comes on line so the boss just asked me who'?????????' was as they had just signed in.
How can I remove it permenately- been through add/remove programs?
any help greatly appreciated.

Not sure how to uninstall it quickly... but I would suggest the following in the interim:
Right click on messenger icon in the system tray
Open (if not already open)
Go to Tools > Options
Preferences
Untick Run messenger when Windows starts
Log out, log in again, and make sure you untick Sign me in Automatically. Log out.
Rightclick on messenger icon and Exit. (You'll need to shut down Outlook / Outlook Express before it will let you do this)
There may be simpler ways of doing this, so apologies in advance!
Naughty son! I'd be for the high jump if I'd touched the boss's comp without a good reason...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
If you are running windows xp,
go to Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs > Windows Components
scroll down until you see Windows Messenger, and un-tick the box beside it.
It may also be in the main Add / Remove Programs panel. If it is, click on it and select Remove
If on vista,
go to Control Panel > Programs and Features
scroll down until you see Windows Messenger, right click and select uninstall.
