  • So if you keep something in good condition and carry out regular maintenance, it will not need repairs as often as something that is totally ignored.
    Talk about stating the obvious.
If any driver didn't realise that vehicles need regular maintenance to ensure that they are safe, maybe they shouldn't be driving.

It's another "non story". Spend money throughout the year to gamble against you having a lower MoT pass bill. Or, more sensible, is to just have what's "needed" by leaving it all until the MoT day to be fixed.

I bought my 2006 car in 2010; in the last six MoTs it's needed no work whatsoever. It's not broken down.

I've had "usual costs of ownership" such as a chipped windscreen, a couple of flat tyres, a new set of wipers front and back .... but nothing that needed more than the annual service I book in at MoT time.

Next week: Pope advised to remain a Catholic in order to retain his status of head of church.

Yes, I was just playing with words. Was meant to be mildly amusing.

Surely the point is a car should be kept roadworthy at all times, not just fixed up before an MOT in order to pass that test and save money?
