What A Joke - Estate Admin Fees

Alright guys

Me & my partner need to move very soon because our current landlord wants the property back to give to her daughter.. So we are basically be forced to move..

While looking for the next property to move in and rent we are finding a lot these days that are now with estate agents and they want to charge £150, upwards per person for admin fees and then I have just found one that wants a contract signing fee on top of £75.

So now we have got to worry about deposit + admin fee + contract signing...

Is this the way it's gone? We haven't had to move for about 8 years

you think that is cheap, try 200+ per person in London. They are being looked at at the present time, but still under the consultation period

    Why are you complaining?

If you don't like it, don't use the service

The same thing just happened to us! Yes its ridiculous. We had to pay £240 for referencing fees, £300 for ' tenancy set up' , 2 months rent as we have a cat, + another months rent in advance. £30 for them to contact the previous landlord, £250 'reservation fee'.... All in it cost around £4k. That's not including removal costs and the like.
Whilst normal now, I believe there is legislation coming soon to prevent such high fees. Its stuff like this that could easily see someone made homeless.

If you're not legally obliged to leave and your landlord wants to end your agreement early, have him pay the fees.
