Hi, I am also new to this forum but looking for some guidance please!
In April 2016, I drew on to the Villa Express Carpark (Fleetwood Road, Kirkham - near the M55 exit) and was there approx 10/15 mins while I was deliberating going in for a coffee/cake etc with my 3 children, also in the car. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that it wasn't the right time/place and I drew off without thinking any more about it. In April 2017, I have received a debt recovery letter from Vanquish Debt Recovery requesting the sum of £185 as I have contravened the parking regulations, i.e. I didn't purchase anything on site. I didn't see any parking signs at the time, I live fairly local and although not a regular visitor to the villa express, I have been there before but I'd never given parking there much consideration. What I should also add, is that I was in a hire car (supplied by an accident management company - not the best decision, but that's another story) and I assume this is why it has taken 12 months for this letter to reach me. The letter indicated that there had been previous correspondence relating to a Parking Charge Notice of which I have seen none. I assume the hire car company has received the other letters and ignored them! I was also due to meet a friend there that day, she arrived later than me and spent less time on the car park and has had not received any demands. Parking Awareness Services Ltd are the company who apparently control the car park.
So, where do I go from here?
Do I request copies of all previous correspondence? Do I ask them for proof of how long I was on the car park? Is it not reasonable to draw on a car park, make a decision about whether it's the right venue and leave if it doesn't satisfy my requirements?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!0 -
Oh I do apologise, haven't seen a newbies sticky link.0

HI, I have a similar story. Last July in Blackpool parked next to the ticket machine in one of their carparks (twice), bought ticket to park there. Deliberately next to the ticket machine for easy access to exit by it (husband hadn't been well and this seemed easy). Got home, Stirling, Scotland to find 2 x Parking Charge Notices (£60 each) to my surprise. I wrote to them asking what I had done wrong, explaining a bit about the situation, and they sent photographic evidence that I was parked slightly over the line on the right next to the ticket machine (both times almost the same). So I appealed online, and didn't hear anything for about 8-9 months - so I presumed they had waved the PCN's agreeing with me that I wasn't interfering with any other car or space. But no 'Vanquish debt recovery' (sister company) now sent payment demands, not for 2 x £60 but for 2 x £185. Parking awareness say they sent emails to me requesting payment of original PCN's, which I have never received.
My main problem with this company is that there were no tickets on my car either of the days and I parked in exactly the same space next to the ticket machine, not in the way of any other vehicle or space. If there had been one on my car the first day I parked in the space, I would have definately not parked there again, and would have paid the PCN.
I have been corresponding with the company wishing I had ignored them, and they have give me a little time to get the money together, or they will do a payment plan. I really don't want to pay 2 x £185 as I feel this is really unfair. I did offer them the original 2 x £60 but they did not accept this.
Any advice would be gratefully received.0 -

the fact that there was no pcn on the vehicle isnt relevant as its not mandatory
