someone has hit the side of my ford focus just above the wheel arch and put a dent in it and scratched it. (drove away without informing me the inconsiderate *******)

just wondering if anyone has any idea of a price to repair it.

not bothered about the scratches its the dent that's bothering me most.

  • A proper repair at a proper bodyshop, assuming it is only the one panel (front or rear wing) that is affected. About £350 - 400 inc VAT.

A dent could be the size of a 10p or the size of a dinner plate - the size determines the cost.

The invisible repair companies are very good if it isn't too large and there is no major paint damage. They will work on the dent from the other side, push it out and reshape it.

Wing from the breakers and bolt on; job done. Alternatively take the underwing shield off and tap it out from behind. It will probably still show but depends how fussy you are.

I'd have thought £150-£200 per panel that has to be painted - assuming its something that can be pushed out and a skiff of fillers blended over it. Bear in mind though that a door may have to be painted too to feather in the colour match.
  • If it's a front wing, you may well find it cheaper to just get a new one, re-spray to your colour and bolt on.

If it's a rear arch, it'll be much cheaper to repair. Rear panels generally aren't easily replaceable and could write an older car off if the dent is big enough.

Nobody can give an accurate figure without seeing pictures of the damage. Quotes will very wildly dependant on the type of work needed and the quality of the finish.
  • Yea its the front left wing just above the wheel.

The dent is nothing Major, and it could probs be popped out if the panel could be removed.
  • Mobile smart repairer best bet, you should be able to get a free quote, if he can get to the panel (not double skinned) from behind he'll more than likely be able to push it back out, some of these lads are so good you'll never know where the dent was, and he'll be able to paint just the scratches for you.

Probably won't be any cheaper than a (small, minus non productive managers receptionists) bodyshop, but it will be more convenient as they'll come to you and do the job in a couple of hours.

Sounds like £100 to £150 should cover it, £300+ is if you use a larger bodyshop where non productive bodies and company cars you would be paying for, but you might get a free courtesy car and free coffee for the extra £150.

Ah those receptionists filing their nails; worth every penny of that extra £150.
