Dart Charge

I received a penalty notice relating to a crossing that I made via the Dartford bridge/tunnel. That didn't make sense as I'd paid for the crossing. I rang the number on the penalty notice and spoke to someone. She said 'It's our mistake, we issued it in error, I can see that you paid, I'm cancelling it now'.
I said that the form says the next stage is the County Court and asked if she could assure me it wouldn't go any further, which she did. A week later I dialled in to their automated system and entered the penalty charge notice number and it's still saying the amount is outstanding.
Their system doesn't seem to work properly. As they've issued a penalty charge notice in error I have no confidence that it won't go on to the next stage in error. Has anyone else encountered this problem with the Dart charge?

We tend to specialise in private parking issues here on MSW. You would be better asking your questions over on pepipoo.com as they are more expert in that field, as well as council and police motoring matters.
You will need an email account to register there, but Hotmail accounts don't work for some reason.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Hi,
I was wondering how you have got on?? I too have received a PCN and had also paid. I did this by my mobile phone and using the pingit method.
I was first told that they do not use pingit, therefore must have logged onto a fraudulent web page. I did not wish to be fined further so made the payment. I checked with my bank who confirmed i have paid Gov.Uuk. I call Gov.Uk back and again told they do not accept pingit. By the third call and insisting on speaking to tech support (they do not have one), a manager confirmed I was correct and now they need to chase this.
Its possible pingit is only available on mobile phones, but the team are unaware.
I am now waiting to see if my over payment will get credited to my account.
I think i have a long wait

Stop dealing with penalties by phone...why do both posters think the way to resolve such things is by a method where you can't prove what was said? Never ever appeal or challenge any penalty by phone, always by a method which gives you a paper or email trail as proof.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

According to this they do (or at least did) use Pingit, so it does sound like you have paid twice.
