On a visit to Italy last year, I visited a supermarket (Pam) where the tickets were LCD. So both the price and price per 100g etc was on this. Not sure how they are updated. Probably in a way if product was dual located l, both change.

Quite a few shops in the UK are using/trialling LCD shelf price labels as well.

Sainsburys started trialling them 2 years ago...

The e-ink units will be overseen by specially trained staff and will be regularly updated automatically from a central system.

We use Tesco self scan these days because we can check the prices as we go and know to the penny how much we are spending.

Well if Sainsburys implement the lcd ticket option in thier stores as fast as they implemented Contact less payments in their stores after everybody else, I don't expect them to installed until the mid 2020's.;)

  • Had issues with Tesco last week. Partner bought a few items at an Express store and was overcharged by £2.04 a bottle for two bottles of wine. Queried next day and was told a shelf ticket had not been updated; the wine had been on special offer at the weekend. Assistant called Manager through from office to do refund and he didn't offer double the difference. Apparently was sullen when prompted and did put it through. Not sure why it is not just their policy to do it when an issue occurs; it is something they offer so why try and get away with it unless specifically prompted.

I actually like the fact that they sometimes leave old promotions up.

I always check my bill and get a refund of the overcharge.

If they had taken it down in time it would of cost me more.

It annoys me when they leave old promotional prices up.

I'm generally buying the item at the promotional price so when I check my bill (I always do) I have to spend time at Customer Services to get my refund - which wastes my time.

It would have cost you even less if you had asked for DTD.
Imho, that's what DTD is for - the inconvenience of wasting customers time because the shop aren't on top of their job.

It's in the stores around me. That's 9 - including locals.

I hate contactless as it takes an extra day to come out of your bank account and sometimes it doesn't come off available balance. If you are on a budget, this is a pain. Hence why you hear people saying 'well i've got £80 in my bank account' when they try to make a £10 payment. This happened at work the other day. I said to the customer did she make any contactless payments past couple of days. She said she spent £75 at 5 shops and weren't showing on her bank app. See.

I have bought a few items in the past which had the old promo ticket, but I got the money off due the Brand Guarantee

That's why I prefer to use Apple Pay over contactless with a physical card; it shows up in my 'pending' payments (and my available balance is adjusted accordingly).

I'm with Lloyds and it says on their banking services that typically purchases for £15 and lower aren't usually shown (which then leads to situations like yours).

My colleague was shopping at Tesco - it's at the bottom of her road. She queried something scanning at a different price. The cashier called her a "lying b!tch" whilst pressing the button to call for a supervisor. The supervisor came and she was just as rude.
