Fixed tariff ends April, change early?

Our fixed tariff with SSE ends April 8th, question is do I move to a new tariff now and start paying the extra money early, or do I wait until nearer the time and risk losing out on a good deal?

We are staying with SSE, which although I know it isn't the cheapest deal their customer service is amazing and right now stress free trumps saving a few £££ a month.

It takes a minimum of 17 days to switch, and may take up to 5 weeks (possibly even longer if supplied via an IGT).

Some suppliers will even allow you to specify when you wish the switch to happen, within a certain window. It is only a request and not guaranteed. However, when I've used it, even for an IGT, it was honoured.

If you have already elected to remain with the same supplier, they usually start any new contract when the existing one expires (unless you request otherwise). Just ask them
