Home emergency cover quote!

My agreement with British Gas is due for renewal. Iam on home care 400 (they call it home care 4 now) and used to pay £20.50/month. The renewal quote is £25.50/month and when I called them they said they cant do any lower. They say that if I cancel and come as a new customer it will be £29/month. Do you think I can get better quote some where else? I had cover with EON few years ago but I cant find it on their website any more. Any suggestions please?

Look very carefully at the exclusions, think about how many times you have had to make a claim, and then look at what you are paying. Most of the time, these policies work out very expensive for very little cover.

If you were to put aside the monthly premium in a savings account, you would have the money there to pay for any emergency repairs. In the long run, you would probably save a small fortune and get a better service from local trades.

To be honest I made good use of the policy last year. I moved into a 100 years old house and made 5 calls for plumping and two calls for heating emergencies...All this for £20/month. In my opinion...very worth it
