I can't offer any suggestions for cheap eating places I'm afraid.
Things to do on the cheap or free:
Watch a court case at the Old Bailey - free
Visit the Tate Gallery - free, then catch the boat (small charge) for a ride on the river to the Tate Modern - free
Spot celebrities (might see Martin?:D ) and have a competition with your partner, who can spot the most or first - free
Don't pay for an open top guided bus, buy an ordinary bus ticket (small charge) and sit on the top deck to see the sights
See a west end show on the cheap. Go to the theatre booking office at 10am and buy a standing ticket (£10) for that day's performance. On the night, watch for any vacant seats in the stalls (there's always a few) and go and sit in the vacant seat just as the lights go dim. I've successfully used this ploy in London and New York.:D
Enjoy your London trip.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
If shopping floats your boat - you should visit Harrods - even if you don't intend to buy anything. The store is fabulous, a real Aladdins cave. The food halls are something else!Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Ooooh yes...a 'Harrods Picnic' in Hyde Park is certainly on the agenda.....

Hi again Allexie,
There is also this site -- http://www.freetodo-europe.net/page184.html -- from a post in this forum this evening by Smiley_Mum0 -
This is a helpful bit about the Old Bailey, and then what you can do afterwards - the rest of the site may well be useful too

Here is has asterisks against the main attractions that are free to visit:
