Transferring car insurance between spouses

Hi All

I am seeking advice for my father. My mum has always been the main driver on their insurance. At next renewal we want my mum to be removed from the insurance but we arent sure if this will mean that any years of no claims will be transferred? and therefore we are struggling to know how to fill out online price comparisons.

any ideas?

thanks

Some insurers will allow her NCB to be used by her spouse, but not all will. I don't think you'll be able to use comparison sites for this, so I'd ring up a few and see who will allow this and get telephone quotes, or see a local broker.

If there is a valid reason for this, her current insurers may transfer her NCB into his name.

When Mr S had to give up his driving licence for 6 months (medical reasons, not because he had been naughty!) we changed our insurance from him/main driver, me/regular driver to the other way round (obviously, he didn't actually drive) as the insurance rep said that would be the easiest and cheapest way to go about it.

It cost £25 in admin fees (but free when we switched back again) and I was given full NCD so no increase in our premiums.
