I'm sorry you are still feel ill - that's really been a good while now. I've had lingering virus-y stuff for ages too.
Don't get worked up about the spending - but do go and update the spreadsheet. It might be horrific, it might be less than you thought; but I promise you will feel better when you KNOW. :money:0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

Sometimes things just have to go on hold, and payment schedules will inevitably take a little longer and even though we put the brakes on, the whole kit and caboodle takes a while to come to a stop and get back in the right direction.
I think mfmaybe is onto something - facing up to the spreadsheet is going to help. You may even spot something helpful.Just don't beat yourself up - in the long run this is just an unplanned eventuality, and those happen. A case of not coming out of a particular battle completely unscathed, but still (eventually) winning the war. In the long term, you have a goal, and a plan to get there, and that's a strong position to be in.

Keep your chin up TOPM... this is a blip that you couldn't do anything about, so accept it as a battle lost but the war is still there to win. And I know you can be the victor.
Really hope you start to feel better soon. XI Believe.....

If you didn't see Martins show at 8pm on ITV, it would be worth watching on catch up.
Its truly not worth breaking all your budgets on Xmas.

Week 94: Day 1
Hello everyone! Popping in to say hello. Ridiculously I'm still not at 100%, although I'm not a long way off now. Being so ill has resulted in all sorts of conversations with DH about wifework/the mental load (article on it here, for the uninitiated). We definitely don't have a solution yet, but we're chatting it through regularly and we'll see where it takes us. I think we have both acknowledged that I pushed myself until my body forced me to stop, one way and another.
Money continues to dribble out on the credit card for Christmas, on food, on generally life being more expensive when I am not keeping an iron grip on it. No particular solution to that, as I refuse to drive myself demented (and ill) trying to save 50p here and there at the moment. Really not sure what the long term solution is, and it ties in with all the conversations with DH about who is responsible for what. It's not something I'm going to panic about before Christmas though.
Had a good chunk of money in for clients and contract work this month, and needed to pay less tax than expected when I did my tax return last week (although still earned £11.5k last year, which I was impressed with) and DH got paid a final chunk of overtime which reduced the need for my income for December, so I have actually been able to build up a small buffer in my business account again - I now have January's expenses and salary covered, and a tiny percentage of February's as well.
I'm hyper aware of the extension looming in our future and, again, can't gear myself up for a huge amount of stress over it. DH and I need to sit down and figure out where the money is coming from and when.
Right, off to crack on with some work - busy week this week trying to get big chunks of work done, seeing a client and sorting the children's advent calendars. Slowing down is going super well. Need to get a good chunk of work done before the Christmas craziness starts at school though - December is a nightmare for working with three children's work of nativities, carol concerts and school events on every other day for most of December.
November money goals:
- £10.27/31 November rounding down pot.
- £4,303.88/£5,000 2018 debt repayment goal.
- £500/500 income for DecemberTrying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.0 -
Good to hear from you, TOPM, and that you're on the mend. Here's to more of the same. Good, too, that you and your DH have the sort of relationship where you talk things through.
£11.5K is huge: well done! I am sure in the long term you will sort all the finances, even if you aren't currently up to chasing every 50p.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
