    They never tell customers anything.

Just found by chance when browsing through the channels on the cable box that they have a new Virgin 1 channel which is their version of Sky 1.

I'm sure I received e-mail few weeks ago introducing Virgin 1.
Saw the 1p films advertised when browsing OD.
Arthur and the Invisibles is good. 3yr old was quiet through most of film. We paid £3.50 for it end of August!! Almost viewed The Illusionist last week - waiting now for it to air at 1p.

they've been running trailers for a few weeks, on Living, which I guess is the only one they can use that way - it's not like the BBC that can trail on numerous channels and radio stations...!

That's strange, i've got a letter here telling me things. Admittedly most of it is bad - the phone cost going up (not so bad because i don't use it) but it does tell me about the 1p films, the free music videos on ondemand if you're an XL customer and the free setanta channels.
  • Can anyone tell me what the OD menu is and what the Setanta channels are?
  • OD is On Demand. I don't get much communication from Virgin Media, apart from the letter about the phone increases, but that's nothing to the savings I'm now making.
I was going to move to BT, made all the plans then Virgin got in touch to try to keep my custom. They immediately offered to put me on a 3 for £30 package of Broadband, Phone package and basic TV package. When I told them we don't watch much TV, they gave us 2 for £20 (Broadband & Phone package) + Virgin's version of Freeview - which is similar to normal Freeview. At the time they said they're adding Virgin 1 (as mentioned in another posting) and a Virgin Sports News channel (akin to Sky Sports News), both on their Free channel.
But from over £50 per month to £20, and all I lost was a few channels I hardly ever watched....... Bargain!
  • Thank you AnotherMartin for answering my Q about OD.
  • We have not had any communication either by email or post about the 1p movies - we would of been none the wiser. Heard about Virgin 1 through Digital Spy - hardly looks like a rival for Sky 1 just yet.

I have Virgin for telephone and was thinking of going back to BT, the only thing stopping me is that I have Virgin Broadband, and don't want a lot of hastle to change.

AnotherMartin, how did Virgin get to hear about the your proposed change?

    Cheers
  • I left Telewest and went for Freeview until they changed that, I kept my Broadband with Telewest and use Vonage for my telephone provider now. ( unlimited calls to 01/02 numbers for just £7.99p per month, and no stopping after 59mins either).

I now have returned to Virgin Media because I could get the tv for just an extra £2 a month, but I kept my vonage for my phone.
