One of my issues with HL is that they do not allow you to make individual selections for income/ dividend reinvestment. Its either all or nothing. What use is that? Cnt believe they have not sorted that out yet.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

They are trying to offer you a cheap service where they know that money arriving in your account from dividends can be automatically reinvested at a reduced price, if you choose 'all'. Or, not automatically reinvested if you choose the 'nothing' option.

If you'd like to pick and choose and micromanage, you're welcome to pay a larger transaction fee to decide exactly how much of your cash you would like to invest into what, and when. If you want a scheduled reinvestment into something that allows you to be hands off, then pay for just that cheap reinvestment option. Otherwise , there's the higher-fee normal option of 'spend what I like, when I want, on buying what I'd like to buy'.

For example, if I buy two lots of shares worth £250 each, I will be charged an £11.95 one-off dealing fee x2 (£23.90) and then an annual 0.45% on my share holding, so £26.15 in the first year, which is 5.23% of my £500 investment.

You are also missing the 0.5% stamp duty charged for purchasing most UK shares.

As said above, x-o would nearly halve your dealing costs though.

#13 But i am only asking for the basic functionality that other providers already have eg TDW. Surey its only a matter of software or maybe HL dont think their customer base needs or wants that level of choice?
