Insurance for cat c car question

My 15 year old car is a cat c write off after I damaged it on a post in a car park. It's uneconomical for the insurance co. to repair as it's worth so little.
I'm now getting it repaired privately and looking for insurance. My existing insurer needs a new MOT and engineers report to continue any level of cover and said the policy will be cancelled after 28 days if that doesnt happen.
I'm thinking of trying other insurers as I understand others may not require MOT/engineers report. My question is, if I go down that route, do I need to answer yes to the "any previous policy cancelled or special conditions imposed" standard question? I'm assuming the answer is yes but just want to check that I'm understanding the meaning behind the question. It feels more like I'm choosing not to continue but then my current insurance company are using the word cancel and I guess the MOT and engineers report are special terms.
Also is there any point in getting comprehensive insurance after a write off as I understand my car won't be worth much with a cat c marker?
Many thanks in advance

Your policy will be cancelled because your insurer won't cover cat c write-offs without a new MOT, not because of any default by you.
You may find changing to tpft costs you more than staying comprehensive!0 -
Thanks for replying. So you are suggesting the answer to the insurance cancelled or special conditions imposed question is no?
I'll check both comprehensive and tpft...0
