I'm hoping that someone here can help with a problem I've had since at least last November. When I buy more than one item from an ebay seller & go to pay via paypal, I keep getting redirected back to the sign in page. Ebay don't seem to know what the problem is or how to resolve it & I've been messaging them backwards & forwards. I've cleared cookies etc. as they have suggested but to no avail.

I use Google Chrome browser & have also deleted that & tried via Internet Explorer & then installed Firefox, problem still persists so I've deleted Firefox & reinstalled Chrome. Today I found I can't even pay for a single purchase from an ebay seller. :( What I'm having to do is ask seller to text me & I'll reply with my Paypal address so that they can send me a payment request to enable me to pay, seeing as I can't send address via ebay message system.I have no problem signing into my paypal account independently & paypal claim the problem lies with ebay & not them.

After more email exchanges this afternoon with ebay I was advised to get onto live chat to see if they can help but to be honest it did my head in. I ask them to look at my case no. to see exactly what the problem is & all I get are stupid replies asking me to repeat information I've already given them & wasted 20 mins with them constantly asking me to confirm what I've just told them, so I've given them up as a complete waste of time.

So my hope here is that somebody will be able to understand the problem & give me the solution that seems to be so evasive. I've never before found it so flipping hard to spend money!

If it helps I use a laptop with Windows 8.1 for the internet.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Do a step by step account of what your clicking during the buying process and what screens appear.

When I go to pay for items, whether by clicking on basket or purchased items & click to pay I get taken to paypal sign in page as is normal & after filling out my details it comes up with authenticating payment, then logging you in & page just refreshes & goes back to sign in screen. It's a continuous loop no matter what I try.

Last night ebay told me to try to pay using credit or debit card, but it doesn't make any difference at all. I believe ebay think it's a problem with my computer, but why has the problem arrived from nowhere & has only affected payment when multiple items are involved? I paid for a single purchase last night, which thankfully went through Ok, but still stuck in the loop with trying to pay the multiple purchases from a seller.

So your assumption that it's when paying multiple items, is just based on one transaction? It might not be the case at all and could be a bit of a red herring? Do you think?

Does your account have the 2 factor authentication, which (IIRC) sends a code to your phone?

You could try using a different browser to see if you still get a problem.

You mean like the OP said they did in their first post? ;)

Though it might be worth trying a portable, self contained browser. Maxthon Portable might be one to try

OP, have you tried installing the ebay app on your phone and paying through that?

run in safe mode with networking and see if the problem persists.

Reset your router. Switch it off for 5 or 10 minutes. Dont just switch it off and back on.

If it has a factory reset button, try pressing that. With mine its a small pin hole and you hold the button pressed whilst turning it on and keep it pressed for a further 10 seconds.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago - I couldn't use the laptop to pay without getting into a similar circle, but it allowed me to buy using the mobile app on my phone.
Righted itself for no obvious reason, which is no help to you at all.

Yeah exactly like that. Not sure how I missed it unless I just forgot after reading the rest of the post.

What anti-virus do you have ?
It happened to me using Kaspersky. I ended up paying via Ebay app on phone.

Thanks all for your help. My internet security is indeed Kapersky, which I've been using for a few years now, so unsure if the problem lies there.

I'm one of the very few people who don't have a smart phone, just a pretty basic Nokia & just my laptop, no Kindle or anything, so everything needs to be done via my laptop.

I've now already paid seller for the items that I was having trouble paying for via a paypal invoice, as I'd texted him my paypal details, so I can't yet check out forgomyname's suggested of trying in safe mode etc. or of cookie's suggestion of a portable browser. But should I still find the payment problem persists next time I'm trying to pay for multiple items from an ebayer, I will try these out to see how things go.
