Aqua credit card duplicate payment

Hi all just wanted a bit of advice, I recently made a payment to my aqua credit card to clear the full outstanding balance and after logging in today realised they have took 2 payments for the same amount... to cut a long story short I rang aqua and have been informed it has happened to many people over the past few days due to a glitch with the online payments system. This has resulted in me going into an unplanned overdraft with my bank and no doubt I will incur charges. Has anyone one else had this problem before ,aqua are accepting full responsibility for the error but i'd just like to know what the bank will do and will it affect my credit file etc

Any advice would be really appreciated as my banks systems are down until monday and I don't want to be worrying all weekend!

If it's pushed you into an unplanned O/D then I expect your bank will charge you as per the Ts&Cs. They will report it against your CRA records, but possibly not if it is repaid fairly rapidly (2 or 3 days say).

When you spoke to them, did Aqua indicate what they're going to do to resolve this? I presume they will refund one of the payments, but I would suggest you would be at liberty to tell them what charges you have incurred and to request they refund them. Some compensation might be order for your troubles and the possible impact on the CRA records - but in the case of Aqua, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope on that last bit.

Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be :D
  • Thanks for the advice Aqua have said they can amend my credit file if its necessary, I have never had any problems with aqua until now ...this duplicate payment thing has happened to loads of people over the past few days and after speaking to aqua again this afternoon they have also agreed to refund any charges...still not the point though as its caused a lot of hassle.
