G24

Hi All,
G24 sent my daughter a car park charge for staying over the time allowed. The problem is my daughter was living away from home and was not the driver, we sent an email asking to identify the driver but they reply by saying they have investigated all matters, my 2nd reply from them was about sufficient signs and court cases they have won. I sent a 3rd email that this is not helping and I believe you are not reading any of my emails.
It took them 8weeks to reply with a demand to pay the full charge of £70, I try to appeal and was out of time and was told I had to pay £15 to appeal.
So I wrote this letter to them
"I am writing to you because I feel you have preventing my daughter from contesting the parking charge earlier by taking 8weeks to respond to my last message.
We asked for help in identifying the driver as my daughter is a student nurse living in Bournemouth and not Birmingham, so doesn't know who was driving. I have now asked her friends who drive her car and getting no joy from them.
My daughter can not afford to pay for something she has not done.
So I have sent a cheque for the reduced fine of £42 which i would of done if you had responded to say you couldnt identife them but you still have to pay."
With a cheque for £42 (I just want it to go away now)
They have sent the cheque back with a note saying "insufficient amount Amount outstanding £70"
I have now emailed the retail park and hope they can help.
I just feel they do anything to increase the charge,
Any advice will be grateful and I know I should of asked you all for advice 1st.
Thank you

Firstly, never pay the scammers. Luckily for you they sent the cheque back so you have lost nothing.

Effectively you appealed when you sent the first email, despite what the scammers tell you.

There is nothing you can do except wait to see if they try court in the next six years. Ignore anything and everything you get now except a LBC/LBCCC/MCOL or real court papers. (Letter before court/county court claim/money claim online.)

... and I mean everything including debt crawler letters.

The NEWBIES thread tells you why it is safe to ignore debt collectors.

Come back here if the scammers try court as this will be easily defendable with help from here.

Do not contact the scammers ever again. Do not offer to pay, anything, and do not send them any money!

Oh, and you should never tell the scammers who was driving, even if you know. All you will do is heap misery on someone else, and they will have less protection from the scammers than the vehicle keeper.

you are wasting your time with G24 and should never have tried to pay them a penny

IGNORE g24 unless you get an LBC or an MCOL through the post within the next 6 years

IGNORE any debt collector letters from any DCA too

as you have already done , try to get the landholder or MA to cancel this speculative invoice

(I just want it to go away now)
It will not just go away so stop throwing money at a scam - nothing awful happens, just daft debt collector letters we've ignored for a decade. They are quite funny. Almost everyone here does report success when complaining to retail Store Managers who cancel G24 PCNs every week.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi again,
My daughter has now received another letter from G24, which I opened for her.
    It says the following
Thank you for your recent correspondence.
As we have extensively investigated this Contractual Parking Change Notice and provided you with the results of our investigation, no further investigation will be undertaken. Any further correspondence will not receive a response, the options below are still open to you.
Your cheque for £42.00 has been sent back separately as this is insufficient, the amount outstanding is £70.00.
Unfortunately your period of appeal has expired as explained on the back of your Contractual Parking Charge Notice.
You now have one of the following options available to you:
    1. Pay the outstanding Parking Charge. (How to pay, address etc)
    2. If you choose to do nothing, we will seek to recover the monies owed to us via our debt recovery procedures and may proceed with Court action against you.
The Independent Appeals Service (wwwxxx) provides an Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme for disputes of this type. We may engage with the IAS Non-Standard Appeals Service at our discretion should a dispute arise over this charge on the future.
    Your Faithfully
    G24
I can't believe they are doing this when my daughter was not in Birmingham at the time and the photos they have sent us are rubbish! We have asked 3 times for help in identifying the person/persons and the last message took 8 weeks for them to reply, making it impossible to appeal or to pay the reduced charge.
    What do we do now?
    1. Do I reply to them.
    2. Send any further letter back to them (my daughter doesn't live here at the moment and won't be for the next 3 years).
    3. Just ignore them.
Thanks again to you all for your help and I look forward to reading your response

Please pay attention to the helpful posts you have had.

Also read some of the other threads.

You ,ight also read up on the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 that allows PPCs to claim payment from the registered keeper if they do not name the driver.

Having said that, the PPCs are mainly useless with their paperwork, signage and court papers.

So, if I may be blunt, forget the bit about your daughter not being there. Unless there was numberplate cloning or the number on the photos was incorrectly identified, then the car was probably there. With our help, you can probably win any court case. Until then, you will get letters from Debt collectors and solicitors, but until you get a LBCC or court papers, just file every exhange of correspondence.

Nothing has changed. This is only G24, hundreds of threads all ignoring them but complaining to the retailer Management to get them cancelled.

No worries if not, enjoy the daft letter chain and please no more updates on the letters (we've seen them all, and so can you if you simply Google Image search using a phrase from each letter, e.g. 'Zenith' or 'Dent Recovery plus landmark Beavis case').

We really do not need to hearing about DRPlus or Zenith letters, I even wrote a thread begging for no more:

Relax. The fact she was not the driver is irrelevant anyway because the PCN will have quoted Schedule 4 of the POFA (keeper liability). But it means nothing when you get it cancelled by the retailers...or just ignore the drivel.
