We shall be holidaying in Oz next month, starting off in Port Douglas. Should I buy our sun tan lotion here or wait until I get over there?

either buy them at the airport and tell them were you are going or buy over there as the sun rays over there are much stronger and my experence is that we burn with english creams but we do not when we buy creams in the country we are in.:j0

It's on sale or marked down in alot of places right now. I'd buy it in the UK and if you want good lotion against the sun..use kids lotion (as I do heh) as it's stronger

Have a nice trip.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, I usually go for the kids stuff as well.
Guess I'll be looking for the BOGOF offers.

......stuff like sunscreen (and most toiletries) I buy when I get where I'm going on holiday because:
1) They're usually cheaper
2) They're not going to break open/spill in your luggage
3) They're not eating into your baggage allowance0 -
sunscreen is a BIG deal in Australia because of the thin ozone layer, it's easier to get burnt and they have big probs with skin cancer... as a consequence it's very difficult to find sunscreen under factor 30 and it's mainly like treacle.
I tan well and thought 30 was a bit of overkill - i would normally wear 15/8 on european sun holidays and not burn, but you definitely need it there.
the suncream isn't *that* cheap there either. but on balance i'd say buy it there because it's good quality stuff and like others say it won't leak in your suitcase0 -
We've been to Port D and Cairns and we were fine with factor 15/20 from home (i'm very fair skinned) but I didn't burn even after a couple of days sunbathing. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that though because that may not be alright for everyone.
If you get some coupons (see discount codes and vouchers) suncream can be bought really cheap over here.Even if you haven't Tesco's are selling them half price at the moment.
And you don't want to spend your precious holiday time shopping for creams;)
Enjoy your holiday in Oz, it's the most wonderful place in the world:D0 -
Thanks again for all your replies.
I think on balance we'll take a couple of bottles with us (1 in each case wrapped in a plastic bag) and then when we run out buy some over there.0 -
Go to the cancer charity shops for it. It's dead cheap and it's the best stuff.0
