I knew somebody who was a National Trust car park attendant, at a beach car park in a small hamlet. They had a little hut and it was just her - somebody'd come and she'd see if they were NT members from the car sticker on the windscreen, if not then she'd take the appropriate money from the person and give them a ticket. Everybody was in a good mood as they were on holiday and about to go onto the beach.

It probably only had about 40 spaces.

But, it is seasonal, so you've only got a job April-August/September.

I have had many jobs and in only one did I have such a supervisor. I soon stopped his antics with a well-timed comment.

You do know you now need to tell us what the comment was please:)

Which kind of job has an immediate line manager that does not check whether you are constantly busy or not? It has to be an easy to do job as well.

I'm guessing you'd also quite like it to pay well, in addition to being left to get on with it in peace and not having to do very much?

Piece work - where you get paid not by the hour but by the job. It means you'll get well paid for working hard, and nothing for slacking off. It'll let you work unsupervised though :)

I was working on a bandsaw cutting metal and the supervisor kept appearing every 15 minutes and asking if everything was alright. After he had made 5 'visits', I answered his question with "well, I have this pain in the kneck that keeps coming and going every little while".

He walked away laughing and the next time he appeared he had a cup of tea for me.
Needless to say we actually got on well. I don't think the supervisor in my current job would take the joke quite so well as he dosn't appear to have a sense of humour.

You do realise that 1 manager to the next will be different, have own way of doing things even if the managers are part of the same employer.
