I applied for the HSBC Advance Current account (and the £250 to go with it) right at the beginning of January. A week later I received a letter requesting further info to continue - this was resolved quickly in branch.
3 weeks later I'd heard nothing more. Then around 10 days ago I received a letter to provide my signature which I sent back over a week ago and nothing since.
I've called their customer service line to chase... they said the offer had been very popular with a lot of last minute applications (thanks to MSE :money: ) so unfortunately they couldn't give me an estimated process time, it was just a matter of them working through them.
I advised them that it would have been a pleasant courtesy for them to send an email to waiting customers acknowledging the delay and explaining the wait... would have answered some of the questions on here and avoided the negative press.
P.S. I had a similar delay when I switched my mortgage to them which I wasn't happy about as I incurred higher interest from my incumbent provider whilst I waited. Based on experience now I would not recommend HSBC... unless paid - £250 might do it. :rotfl:
