Other ways to make uni credits?

Can you get university credits without/before going to university? I'm not studying at the minute but I am considering going to university and I noticed I can get credits for volunteering my time in studies.

I'm not sure what credits you mean - are you talking about credits towards a final grade during a course of study or UCAS points prior to study?
If the former: I would have though (but don't know for certain) that volunteering credits were only counted as part of the actual course - there will be some sort of internal Uni accreditation. I don't think you can use prior volunteering towards any credits. These sorts of credits are usually very small element of a grade anyway unless they are a formal part of a course specific activity.
If you were referring to UCAS points - that system changed significantly this year and almost all Unis now ask for specific grades/subjects for their entry requirements rather then x number of UCAS points. Different entry requirements are usually accepted for mature students.0 -
Thanks that cleared things up, I thought you could transfer points across subjects.0
