Colour variation in laminate - what are my rights

If you still have the packaging could you find the labels and check them for batch numbers etc?
If nothing else, this thread illustrates just how important it is to check the inventory of such deliveries. The fitter certainly shares more than a modicum of blame for this.
If there are photos, could the OP post them here, I wonder?0 -
Just a thought, would the colour differance be to do high what direction the tops are placed it "Ie" right angles to one another and it's the light reflection or even the lighting colour showing up the differance.0

Hi all,
Just an update. I spent half an hour on hold and got nowhere. I suspect I'll have more joy on
Monday.
I'll try to find a way to add photos.
Its most obviously different around the joins, so its not the lighting. I did wonder it I could light it so id stop noticing the difference actually.
If worktops don't have batches then its a bit of a lottery what you get. Seems this is a rare problem tbh. Haven't found much of anything online about this issue. Only in natural stone, not laminate.0 -
I expect people generally buy one worktop long enough to do the whole job, so any cutting and fitting is done with one piece. Matching two bits would then not arise.0

It only comes in 3.6 and 3m lengths so I had to get two.
In hindsight I would have assumed they could be different and checked properly. It simply never entered my head that this could happen. I expected it would match as standard.0 -
Have had a response from them,
"as its been installed it has been deemed fit for purchase" and they are unable to exchange.0 -
Well my opinion for what it's worth.
Blame is on both sides - yours (and by association your fitters) for not checking and theirs for providing something unsuitable.
As such I would say they are liable for providing replacement laminate only, and you are responsible for the fitting portion (which works out very roughly 50/50).
Given you have got nowhere with them I would commence a formal complaint that the goods aren't fit for purpose. Do it in writing.0 -
I do not think you will get anywhere with this but you can try.
If they do anything it will be as a goodwill gesture and not as a legal requirement.
Just out of interest what is the name of the worktop and colour description?0 -
Its the aura white gloss. The name is misleading, its more creamy beige with gold glitter. That's what I expected and I viewed in store. One piece is spot on, the other is darker, a bit greyish.
Thanks for the responses. I will pursue it, and I am kicking myself for not checking. I really didn't know this could happen. I fully expected to be sent items that matched.0 -
