You don't get charged for the ads. BUT, I received a text back saying:

Wow, you're keen. Invite's from FRESH aren't being sent out yet, but BLYK has your number and will make sure you're one of the first to get one.

Cost me normal text rate to text them but If i'd known this I wouldn't have.
  • Thanks, I'd seen this on local news but because they never spelt BLYK I couldn't find anything. Anyway I followed the instructions above and got the same text back about being added to their list. Here's an article on the company for more info.

I suppose once the invites start coming out someone can set up a thread in the referrals board to consolidate the distribution invites to the rest of us.

Heard about this a few weeks ago before they launched and didn't think it would work. But having read more about it on smstextnew it seems like a great idea: http://www.smstextnews.com/2007/09/blyk_arrives_ready_to_serve_the_uks_16-24_year_olds.html

The ads are free to receive, if the ad has a ^ in it then it is free to interact with it, ie follow the link to a website or reply via a text message.

The sim is totally free, there is no obligation or need to top up. The service will run using the Orange network. I have a spare phone kicking around so will defo be looking out for them at my Freshers fair.

It seems the company will also be aiming to hand out invites in shopping centres and other similar venues. The brands they are advertising are also major brands, rather than sleazy ads selling you adult material.

They will be at the following universities:

Week Beginning Sept 24th:Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Coventry, Derby, Exeter, Glasgow Scotcampus, Hertfordshire University, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds Met, Nottingham, Royal Holloway, Southhampton Solent, Sussex, Swansea, University College, University of the West of England and Warwick.

    Week beginning October 1st:

Bournemouth Arts Institute, Cambridge, London Met, Lancaster, Newcastle, Sheffield, University of Cumbria and University of London Union.

    Week beginning 8th October:

    Thames Valley University and York.

Seems like they will also be distributing "limited edition Blyk bags"

The website can be found here:
    http://www.blyk.co.uk

I think the title of the thread needs to include the "Blyk"
