New NHS job - P45, P60, payslip

I'm starting my new job at the NHS on Monday and the offer letter mentions bringing along my P45, my P60 and most recent payslip.

The only problem is I only left my last job on Tuesday of this week so I'll be due a payslip for this month (February) around the 26th, then I guess my P45 would come at the same time or shortly after and my P60 I don't currently have a copy of as it wasn't coming up on the online based payroll system at work as I've been employed on both a permanent and temporary basis with my last job over the past year which threw the system a bit however the Finance department are going to sort a copy out for me but it might take until around the end of the month again.

So what do I do in the meantime? With me starting the NHS in the middle of February I would guess my first pay would be the end of March but I'm not too sure at all!

  • They will have a new starter form that you will fill out which will declare whether you have any other employment/pensions etc and depending on what option you choose will dictate what your initial tax code will be.

Your P60 is of no help to them whatsoever! As nb says, complete the New Starter Form, and give them your P45 when it arrives.

  • I worked in the NHS for over 25 years. I can understand why they would need to see your P45, but what business do they have asking for your last P60 and last payslip?

As the others say, you just need to fill out the new starter form and depending on payroll cut-off dates will be paid either February or March.

They've requested your most recent payslip, not the next one you receive, so give them the January one.

As stated, the P60 is nothing to do with a new employer as it is a record of the previous tax year's earnings at your employer at the end of that tax year. There is nothing that a new employer can do with that data.
