I have just had my pre pay meter swapped for the new smart meters.
I want to switch to a credit meter with a different supplier, i contacted 1 company who said they would need my meter to be back to a credit meter.
I spoke to my current supplier Utility Warehouse and they said for me to switch to credit meter i would need to pay £100 upfront for gas and £100 Electric.
I did also ask if i could have the smart meters removed as im not sure if other suppliers can switch me with this installed (although everyone will have them by 2020) they said no i cant. (is this correct?)
Does anyone have any ideas on how i can get around not staying with utilty warehouse prepaying and using a new supplier with a credit meter.
Do i switch to another pre pay company (would they have to remove the smart meter) and then move again to a credit supplier?

If you switch to another supplier, you wont be able to top up, so Utility Warehouse will put the meters into credit mode or your new supplier will fit credit meters for you.0
