Tesco Direct TV issues - Warranty

Options
Hi Everyone,

I wondered if I could get some advice. I purchased a TV through tesco direct on 28/11/2014. The order was supplied by Hughes. My card receipt states TESCO - HUGHES. At the time there was a 5 year extended warranty on TV's over 32 inches (mine was 42).

The TV stopped working last night. I called Tesco and they said they would look into it and called me back but got my VM. The guy said I have a 5 yr warranty and to call square trade. So I called them and they said they have no details of this. So I called tesco back and they said the extended warranty does not apply to me as I purchased the TV from Hughes. So I called Hughes and they said the warranty would be with Tesco

The main point of purchasing the tv through tesco direct was because of 5 yr warranty.

Would just like some advice on where I stand?

Thank you

You'll get more responses by posting this in the consumers rights forum.

What does the paperwork say about the warranty.

Read up and take it from there. (It should tell you how to make a claim)

Tesco Direct acts as a marketplace, much the same as Amazon. Tesco may have been offering a warranty on their own products, but you did not buy from them. In the absence of some evidence of this warranty, you're not going to get anywhere.

You do have statutory rights, but to pursue that route you'll need an independent report stating the tv was inherently faulty. Do you know what the problem is?

(Looking at Google, on occasion Hughes have offered free warranties. It would be worth a good search to see if your tv would fall under these offers.)
