MET Parking Servies Fine

Options
Hey guys,

I was wondering if I had to pay a MET Parking Services parking fine from my local gym. The parking there is inadequate therefore I parked in a disabled bay (without displaying a blue badge) for 1 night as it was raining and i didn't really want to walk far otherwise I would've been drenched. I have received 2 PARKING CHARGE NOTICE REMINDERS and the most recent one (received today) says the following:

'We note the above charge remains outstanding. Please can you ensure the charge is paid within 14 days of this letter to avoid the matter escalating through the instruction of solicitors/debt recovery agents to secure immediate payment or the issuing of court proceedings.'

Obviously this has me a bit worried but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with MET before and if you had to pay the fine.

FYI: I haven't had any contact with them so far.

Cheers

    Shakes head in disbelief!

This type of attitude is exactly why landowners are persuaded to engage PPC's in the first place, you have no fine, try reading the newbies thread!

How much do met parking want? (The early payment amount)
    And where was/is this gym?
Under no circumstances should any money go to met, however if you answer the where was the gym and hire much, I will come up with a proposal and possible solution.

  • Hey thanks for the prompt response.

The early payment amount was £60 however now they are requesting £100 as I didn't pay in the first 14 days. NOTE: I never received a ticket on my windscreen saying this. The first I heard of this is when they sent me a letter for £100. The gym is 'Stoke Mandeville Stadium' in Aylesbury.

    Many thanks :)

Never abuse a disabled parking bay no matter how hard it is raining. That's why parking scammers get employed!

No, you do not have to pay, but you should have appealed these before, not ignored it until now.

You don't get a windscreen ticket if the scammers use ANPR cameras. You could try making a late appeal, but no doubt this will be rejected for being out of time.

What happened when you complained to the gym? A landowner cancellation is always the best option, but the gym owners may not look on you favourably for using a disabled space.

As this is the National Centre for Disability Sport I would think they take a dim view of parking in their disabled spots:

    Not likely to be ANPR.

The issue is, deliberately parking in a disabled sport will just give oxygen to the PPCs who will then go on to pursue and harass genuine motorists disabled or not.
However i am of the belief that any money taken as a result of a disabled bay abuse should not go anywhere near a PPCs coffers.
There is plenty of advice on how not to end up paying Met parking for this in the sticky thread, once you have seen this ticket off then it would be a good gesture to make a donation to Stoke manderville National Centre for Disability Sport instead of enriching the parking company's profit line

One word of warning, do not ignore, whilst Met are currently not that litigious they have six years to try/change their mind and if this does end up in court it wont exactly endear you to the judge.
