I might be in need of some new network hardware but I am looking for an interim solution.
I have a home built NAS which is split into 4 network drives but they all start disconnected. I think it is because the drives are being reconnected prior to the network being fully functional (due to hardware issues).
Is there any method of delaying the reconnection of the network drives or some simple program to run that re-establishes the connections?
Thanks

When this happens at work, even though the drives appear to be offline (Have red cross on them)
, if you actually try to open them they still work.
Is this not the case for you ?
Anyhoo, just write yourself a little batch file to connect them (net use)
Either run it manually from your desktop, or set it as a scheduled task0 -
They do re-connect when I select them in explorer but for example I have a screenshot program that I use to save certain screenshots to a network drive and it can only save to the C drive until I re-make the connections. Now that you mention it I could use 'net use', that is the sort of thoing I'm looking for just not too familiar with it - Thanks0

I don't know if this helps, but when I briefly played about with network storage, I found NFS to be much more reliable than SMB, even on Windows-only networks.0

Fixed IP addresses or network names?
Personally I'd go the fixed IP address route for the NAS storage and on the Windows computer map a drive letter to a network folder using the IP address of the NAS box rather than the network name, i.e \\192.168.1.25\folder. That way you're not waiting for the Windows network Link Layer Topology Discovery Mapper to do its thing before being able to access the shares. Ahh, a pain in the ariss - describes it to a tee - at least brought a smile to my face - Thanks0

My NAS does a similar thing when i log in to make changes.
The other PCs need to connect back to it, they startup disconnected. Simple solution was create a shortcut in the startup folder on the computer to open a folder or open a file or read a file off the NAS Never had an issue again.
I did try several other fixes but they all failed.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
