HP Envy 4524 printing photos problem

Hi, I'm trying to print photos with the HP Envy 4524 but the colours are not right. Faces are too orange, purple is coming out red, etc. I'm using gloss photo paper and best print. I've tried altering the colour, brightness of the photos I see on the laptop using Paint, HP Photos, Windows 10 etc but they still print the same. I've googled the problem but the only solution I can find is to set printer as standard paper not photo paper but that didn't work and the quality of the image was worse too. I now see Amazon reviews are not good for this printer, does anyone know if the photos can be improved or is it just a case of poor printer model?

Silly questions maybe but: If you have separate ink cartridges for the different colours, are they in the correct slot? Is one of the nozzles dried up? Can you go into maintenance and run a nozzle check. This will eliminate the printer for the equation. Have you run a screen check? Do your photos look OK on the screen?

Hi, thanks for reply. It's a new printer and the first time I've tried printing photos. It has one cartridge tri colour and have tried putting in a new cartridge but it printed the same. I printed a photo using my old Epson just before Christmas and it looks identical to the picture showing on the laptop, the same photo using this HP makes everyone look orange and the lovely purple colour is just red. Unfortunately I threw my Epson away when I got this new HP!

Have you run a nozzle check? ranted if it is a new printer it should not be dried up already. However, if it is new, maybe contact the retailer for a repair.

Unfortunately it looks like I chose the wrong printer. Had a good look on HP site and internet and there's an awful lot of similar complaints. They apparently use some sort of colour management programme. All I can say is it doesn't work, the lovely purple in my photo is just red, yellow a sort of mustard and everyone looks sunburnt! Pretending to fool the printer by changing the paper settings hasn't helped, nor has altering the brightness, colours before printing. Tried sending the images through various programmes, Paint, HP, Windows didn't alter end result either. If anyone has any more solutions please let me know.
