Unable to gain a balance of my account

Hi,
Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong area of the forum.

I owe a small amount to a debt management company. I wrote to them several times (from June onwards and always in writing you know what they are like!) asking for a balance.. I have never had a response back.

The company in question were taken over by another organisation. This wasn't communicated to me (I found out last week following a Google search) and I am still sending my payments to the old company and their address.

The debt was following PPI shenanigans which I am dealing with separately but I would like to know what my current balance is. Are they legally obliged to provide me with this information? If so, given my numerous attempts in writing to secure this information (all letters sent 'signed for') who do I complain to/contact about this? I could have paid this debt off by now but I have no way of knowing because they will not respond to my letters. Thanks in advance.
