Credit Card Overlimit Fee

Hi, I would appreciate if anyone could offer any advice.

I have a credit card with a small limit of £200. This month I was close to the limit and interest was applied that took me over by 90pence. I have been charged for this. Can a company apply overlimt charges when their fees pushed me over?

Thanks in advance

Yes, indeed they can. Always leave room for interest, charges etc.

Their fees did not take you over, the contractual interest did. If not paying the card off in full each month you should always budget for the interest.

If you contact the lender then, assuming you have not had a problem before, they may refund the charge as a goodwill gesture.
