Thanks you all so much for your help. With regards to the life assurance......I have children. Now living with their partners etc and homes of their own. I have made sure that if anything happens to me the insurance goes to my brother who will make sure the kids use it wisely. It will not go to my husband. I know that if anything happened to me the house would be repossed within a year as he would not bother paying the mortgage.
We have a beautiful house, in a very good area. Additionally we have a huge mortgage. If I left and we sold the house, my half of the equity would not enable me to buy anywhere else in the part of the country we live in. So I am keeping my head down and just trying to get on with things.
I have realised I need to clear my debts to make my life easier. When I am debt free I will start to save small amounts and maybe then I will have light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks you all :A so much for listening and I have taken on board all of your advice.0 -
Welcome Debtfreefuture. I hate to sound like a nag. But if you want a life, you have to find some more answers. Whilst I don't want to harp on about the cocaine (COCAINE???) the additional problem you have is that most users don't manage to hold down good jobs for ever whilst using. Also, there will be other issues which may develop, ie lies and dishonesty. While I am not suggesting that ordinarily your OH is a bad person in any way, this addiction takes over lives., and changes behaviour You need to face up to fact that without his wanting help, you may have to face your future alone sooner than you plan. Any chance of a plan B with your house situation?
Good luck. At least if you start your own plans to reduce debt, it will put you in a better position when you have had some thinking time.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

Thanks MKJ. The other 'issues' developed years ago (lies, deceit, anything and everything you can imagine and worse!) I am so used to it I dont even listen to it anymore. This has been going on for years. He has been gambling since he was eighteen and taking coke for the last 5 years. However, no one on the 'outside' world has any idea. He earns good money, but has no debts (he just 'spends' every, and I mean EVERY penny he earns on the addictions (apart from paying the mortgage). He has no bank account (?) and uses cash converters for all his wages.
Thanks you so much for taking time to reply
